Watercolors
The history of watercolors dates back a long time ago
in the country of France. French artists first used pigments that were
suspended in a water soluble material for painting on paper. But paper
is not the only material for watercolor painting.
Watercolors can also be used on canvas, wood, leather, fabrics and
some types of plastics. Watercolor painting on different mediums is
popular on the continent of Asia, especially in Japan. Japanese artists
use watercolor paint for self expression and to create beautiful pieces
of art.
Watercolors are often the first paints that children use with a brush.
Not only are most watercolors paints washable, they are also easy to
manipulate. A little extra water creates a lighter color, while less
water creates a darker color.
